Weren't You the Queen, And I Your King (Mythship × Yuugi AU)
CW: Incest
[The Ceremonial Duel...
The day Yuugi and the Pharaoh were to part. Atem returned home to the Afterlife, and Yuugi... was left to continue living.
He was a stronger person now, really! Losing a part of him that was always there for three straight years? It was fine. It was what Atem wanted, so it was fine.
He said forever.
But he just wanted to go home.
It was fine.
It was fine.
Yuugi couldn't bring himself to return home with the others... and so here he was, sitting in the Ishtars' guest room, trying not to let them see him crying in bed with his face buried in the pillow.
It was fine.
It was fine.
Everything was fine.
The Ishtars were so good to him: Marik was a ball of life and energy, and Ishizu... she made him feel safe. Comforted.
That was why he couldn't let them see him cry. They couldn't let them see just how much the Pharaoh's passing had affected him.
He promised.
He promised him...a lot of things. Atem spoke kindly and told Yuugi he was all he needed. He talked about what they'd do together when he got his memories back: where they'd go, what they'd do...
How he loved him.
How he never wanted to be without him...

I think... that's understandable. Even if you were in a unique circumstance, it can be easy to worry about that kind of thing.
And being confronted with those intense feelings for anyone can be scary, especially when they're considered taboo. But... you love who you love. The heart kind of just does what it wants.
[He nuzzles him again.]
And Marik, I...
I promise that I'll never pressure you into anything, okay? You can always be honest with me and I'll never judge you.
[He laughs.]
I dated a 3000 year old dead pharaoh for over a year. I'm not exactly in any place to judge anyone.

Marik takes Yuugi's words to heart and it makes him think. He nods in response to his statement letting him know he'll never judge him or pressure him. (He never pressured him in the first place.)
But that raises the question...]
Yuugi... What... do you consider love?
no subject
[Yuugi closes his eyes as he thinks.]
Romantic love...is...devotion. You want to be with the person, want to see them smile and laugh and see them in the morning and be next to them at night.
You want to share your life with them. Your joys...sorrows... and you want to support them and be their strength... while trusting them to support you in kind.
For me... there is a physical component, but the emotional is more important. I can find someone attractive without loving them...
But I can't love someone without feeling that devotion, adoration, and trust, you know?
no subject
That makes complete sense to him. Devotion. Like what Ishizu has for him. Like what he's beginning to feel for Yuugi. You support them, respect them...
His hold on the smaller male tightens for a moment again as he looks down at him.]
... And you... feel that towards me...?
no subject
I do.
[No hesitstion.]

Then...
[He shifts slightly so he can press another soft kiss to the smaller male's lips.]
... I want to learn.... to love you...
no subject
I'll wait forever... for you...
[Another gentle kiss.]

[His words steal his breath away and make him shudder.
Marik kisses him again, this time with a bit more passion, showing him he's ready to learn.
Ready to love.]
no subject
Passion, but quiet.
Gentle.
Nothing but love.]

Shyly, he touches Marik's tongue with his.
He holds his lover a little tighter.]

Despite his body's desire to do more, he doesn't do anything further, simply wanting to kiss and hold Yuugi. Feel his body again his, taste his kisses, hear his satisfied little sounds.
Let this moment last as long as it can. Nothing else matters.]
