[The Ceremonial Duel...
The day Yuugi and the Pharaoh were to part. Atem returned home to the Afterlife, and Yuugi... was left to continue living.
He was a stronger person now, really! Losing a part of him that was always there for three straight years? It was fine. It was what Atem wanted, so it was fine.
He said forever.
But he just wanted to go home.
It was fine.
It was fine.
Yuugi couldn't bring himself to return home with the others... and so here he was, sitting in the Ishtars' guest room, trying not to let them see him crying in bed with his face buried in the pillow.
It was fine.
It was fine.
Everything was fine.
The Ishtars were so good to him: Marik was a ball of life and energy, and Ishizu... she made him feel safe. Comforted.
That was why he couldn't let them see him cry. They couldn't let them see just how much the Pharaoh's passing had affected him.
He promised.
He promised him...a lot of things. Atem spoke kindly and told Yuugi he was all he needed. He talked about what they'd do together when he got his memories back: where they'd go, what they'd do...
How he loved him.
How he never wanted to be without him...
Was...
Was that a lie...?]

[Ishizu kisses his forehead. She isn't sure if it will make him feel better but he deserves to know, because she can be honest with him.]
I love you, Yuugi. Never doubt that.

Date: 2024-08-07 07:10 pm (UTC)Ishizu loves him.
Marik does not.
Marik only used toys on him and included Ishizu. He skirted away from any individual intimacy.
Because... he pressured him.
He touched him because Ishizu wanted him to.
He never...]
...I love you, too. And...it's...it's okay.
[He pulls away, putting his clothes on before giving her a sad smile.]
He...doesn't have to force himself to touch me anymore. I can't do that to him.
[He quickly walks towards the front door, grabbing his umbrella.]
I...I'll be out for a bit. I'll be back later.
[And he left...
Because he refused to let any of them hear him cry.]

Ishizu's known Yuugi's preference from the start. It didn't bother her, not fully at least. But she knew Marik was still struggling with what happened and coming to terms with what he did, along with his loose grasp on his emotions.
She frowns, clasping a hand over her heart as she watches Yuugi leave, only able to get out a "please be safe" before he does so.
It's a good thing he left, because the screaming between Ishizu and Marik that follows is the first of its kind -- and is not pleasant at all. It's enough to get Ishizu to leave the house in an angry huff, deciding to go into town to calm down as well.
Marik remains cooped up in his bedroom, curled up against the wall, brooding as he always does when he doesn't know how to handle something.]

Date: 2024-08-07 07:26 pm (UTC)What preference? He loved them both equally, and therein lied the issue. How could he live with someone who clearly did not see him that way, while Yuugi kept touching the person he truly loved?
He couldn't do that to him.
They deserved to be happy without him. Yuugi could be a long-distance lover for Ishizu, keep his distance so he stopped hurting Marik.
Even if he yearned to be happy with them both...
It wasn't to be, right...?
He kept walking about outside, staying away from the Marik roads so he could be alone.
So he could think.]
