The day Yuugi and the Pharaoh were to part. Atem returned home to the Afterlife, and Yuugi... was left to continue living.

The Ishtars were so good to him: Marik was a ball of life and energy, and Ishizu... she made him feel safe. Comforted.

That was why he couldn't let them see him cry. They couldn't let them see just how much the Pharaoh's passing had affected him.

He promised him...a lot of things. Atem spoke kindly and told Yuugi he was all he needed. He talked about what they'd do together when he got his memories back: where they'd go, what they'd do...

[Marik might scoot next to him as he pulls out their drinks and some of the snacks, taking a swig with a satisfied "ahhh."]

We should make this a weekly routine, if you're alright with it.

[Yuugi glances up and grins before sitting up and taking a nice long drink.]

That sounds perfect, Marik. It'll be nice to get out of the house... get some air...

[He laughs.]

I feel so cooped up when I'm inside too long, you know?

Mnn. I agree. I think we've been sitting around inside too much instead of taking you out to explore Egypt with you. There's so much we still need to see together...

And this way too, Odion can join us. I've been thinking and... We don't spend enough time with him.

Yeah! Odion's so much fun to hang out with; we went to this place last night where we can play games really late.

I really want to see you two face off against me at the pool table. I think you'd make me break a sweat.

[At that admission, Yuugi's eyes sparkle. Teaching him how to play a game? Be still his heart...]

I'd love to teach you! It's a game that relies on observational skills and bluffing as much as reflexes. I think once you learn, you'd be really good at it.

Games are also a great way to get to know a person.

And I know aaaall of Odion's tells. Stick with me and you'll be able to beat him for sure.

[There's that passion. Marik's cheeks darken and his gaze moves to Yuugi's lips for just a moment.]

Hmmm... Sort of like poker, huh? I'm impressed though. It's hard to read Odion in any capacity.

[Yuugi, oblivious, keeps going:]

Well, he's subtle, but he has these movements when he's playing, you know? Like when he has a good hand, his nose twitches a little, and he prefers to use one hand over the other when he uses trump cards...

[He'll need to watch for those next time they Duel.]

He does those while Dueling too, right? He's even better at the game than myself or sister.

[Yuugi scoots closer, grinning.]

He does. We should duel together, though...! Maybe even tag duel.

[He leans forward.]

[Marik's heart beat begins to quicken and his eyes study Yuugi's face.

... He's been wanting to kiss him this entire time since they spoke this morning but... that would go against what he said about taking things slow.

As long as he keeps the kiss chaste though, right...?

His eyes lid as he begins to lean in and purses his lips slightly.]

[O-oh, he's...

Yuugi's heart thunders in his chest, his fingers tremble slightly as he cups Marik's cheek.

Centimeters away from his lips, Yuugi whispers in Arabic...]

[Marik's face is so hot. This feels... far more intimate, more special than anything they've done before.

He slowly wraps an arm around his waist, pulling him closer, their lips brushing against each other as he whispers back.]

He closes his eyes and wraps his arms around Marik's shoulders.]

[It feels right. To ask him for permission. Permission to feel freely, to show him love and respect.

Marik wraps the other arm around him, pulling him closer still, and kisses him softly on the lips. It's a long, simple, chaste kiss. Their lips pressed together as the tomb keeper slowly rubs Yuugi's back and sides.

He'll let the other decide when to end it.]

[It's chaste, but it steals his breath away.

Everything about this does.

They're kissing on equal terms. No pressure. No expectations. Just two people being close and accepting one another.

Yuugi pulls back, and smiles, sweet and shy.]

[Marik nuzzles their noses together before pressing his forehead against Yuugi's, sighing softly and absent-mindedly running his tongue over his lips as if to taste Yuugi more.]

[He closes His eyes, pauses for a moment.]

[There's a pause on his end as well.]

[So he slowly lays down, shifting so Yuugi can either lay on top of him or at his side.]

[Yuugi curls up on his side, head tucked in the crook between Marik's neck and shoulder as his arm wraps around his waist.

He sighs happily. Relaxed.

He wished Ishizu would do this more often... they always just ended up having sex...]

Marik, however, finds he enjoys this closeness. How simple an action it is but how intimate it feels. One arm is under Yuugi, letting him lay close to him, the other rests on the boy's arm across his waist.]

I always loved it when we'd just lay on each other.

[Yuugi snuggles a little closer, nuzzling Marik's chin.]

Atem was always so stiff. He never knew how to cuddle and just laid like a board even when I tried to teach him how.

I...don't think I ever told you, but...he talked to me that night. The night everything...happened. I felt so guilty for falling in love with the two of you, but he reassured me that it was okay.

It was okay to move on. To grow. To find my own happiness.

And...I think there's a wisdom in that. To find happiness on your own terms, without letting others tell you how to love or be loved.

[So Atem and him were a thing? Odd but... he supposes he understands in a way.

But it does make him jealous because the tomb keeper is a possessive thing. Yuugi will notice he gives him a slight squeeze after he mentions the Pharaoh.

Marik simply listens to Yuugi's words asides from that, taking them into consideration. Find happiness... He doesn't care if he has the Pharaoh's blessing or not.]

... That's how I felt. Guilty for... not feeling the same.

[He says as they cuddle.]

... Guilty that I desire my sister.

[Yuugi's soft heart saw that cuddle as comfort. What a naive sweetheart.]

I think... that's understandable. Even if you were in a unique circumstance, it can be easy to worry about that kind of thing.

And being confronted with those intense feelings for anyone can be scary, especially when they're considered taboo. But... you love who you love. The heart kind of just does what it wants.

[He nuzzles him again.]

I promise that I'll never pressure you into anything, okay? You can always be honest with me and I'll never judge you.

[He laughs.]

I dated a 3000 year old dead pharaoh for over a year. I'm not exactly in any place to judge anyone.

Marik takes Yuugi's words to heart and it makes him think. He nods in response to his statement letting him know he'll never judge him or pressure him. (He never pressured him in the first place.)
